Landmark Tourist Spot
Visit an important example of local engineering at Represa Rio Hondo, the site of a large dam and reservoirs. Built in 1967, the dam is 39.5 m (130 ft) tall and 2,368 m (7,769 ft) wide, supplying the area with irrigation and drinking water, hydroelectricity, and flood mitigation systems. Bring your binoculars with you to appreciate the abundant sights of birds, including herons and ducks. The reservoirs also provide ample fishing opportunities, with the warm waters home to catfish, wolf fish, and mackerel. A man-made beach offers plenty of leisure activities, including boating and water skiing. • Unfortunately, it is a place that is not seeking a tourist exploitation. The surroundings are full of garbage, there is a fair in one of its sides which is very precarious and not showy. It is not a neat area so that tourists want to stay. The beauty of the place is to see running water at the bottom of the dam, and then climb to the top and watch from atop River and the expanse of water that contains the dam. Missing the municipality and private to invest in that area.

  • Unfortunately it is half neglected, thanks to works that were nearby, Speedway, for example, did that access is in good condition. You may have best place to park and enjoy the dam from above and from below.

Where to stay in Termas de Rio Hondo

The four- and five-star hotels that are within walking distance from the center of Termas de Rio Hondo provide some of the best accommodations in town, with perks like indoor swimming pools, fitness facilities, and spa services. These are among the most expensive options in the area, so if you're visiting on a budget, consider checking into a hostel farther away from the city center.
