Parque Independencia, Tandil

4.3
#3 of 110 in Parks in Province of Buenos Aires
With its open green spaces and monuments, Parque Independencia encapsulates the history and atmosphere of the city. Climb the park's hill to see down into the city and its busy streets. Many locals frequent the area largely for this specific view. On the hilltop you'll also find an elaborate yet small "Moorish" castle, gifted to the city by the Spanish residents. Past the castle, go a bit further into the park--and the history of the city--by heading to the onsite fort, once used to defend the city from attack. • Setting aside weekends falling around a group of teenagers (and not so) to make noise with the bikes, is one of my favorite places. Ideal for walking animals, family, friends, couples. I'm going to make balance nearly every day, and also skate.

  • I was lucky to make many trips, however so far I did not have the luck of seeing a so incredible view of a city... With the beautiful statue of san Martín, as something the city of Tandil care... I advise that you take the mate in the afternoon and see that beautiful sunset magic without losing you then a taldinense night lights.

  • Cute place, you can climb by car comfortably. And from there see the city, fresh air. I liked. The building is being restored.

  • Very nice place to visit. Poor care of municipal employees with tourists. Limited availability at the time of answer

  • During the day it is OK, but reaching the afternoon filled with teenagers with their bikes which didn't have any care with the rest of the people. There was no police control that will prevent this behavior. Out of this, very good places near the Lake.

Where to stay in Tandil

Thanks to Tandil's popularity as a weekend and holiday destination for domestic and international tourists alike, it features a wide array of accommodation options suitable for just about any budget. Downtown you'll find a number of larger-scale hotels and rental apartments that offer privacy, onsite dining, and fancier accoutrements catering to business travelers and tourists. In order to get out into nature, many visitors opt for "cabanas," traditional Argentine cabins in the surrounding countryside; bear in mind that these are rustic and charming but only practical if you have access to a car. Booking ahead of time in the summer high season is an absolute must in Tandil, as lodgings fill up fast.
