Monte Calvario, Tandil
(4.2/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Make a solemn pilgrimage to Monte Calvario, a large cross depicting the crucifixion of Christ. A significant place of worship for many Argentines, the striking hilltop monument attracts particularly large crowds at Easter, with thousands of people making the journey to visit the cross and pay their respects. You'll have a quieter experience if you visit in low season, with more time and space to appreciate the beauty of the cross and its surrounds. As you stand in the monument's shadow, look out over Tandil and appreciate the serenity of the area. • It is a hike in the Woods family. There are 2 ways to do it (through the woods or directly through some stairs that lead you up to the top of the hill where the cross is; is diversion of forest road). Lasting 2 hours.

  • Typical Tandil pass. Recommended at any time of the year. Place with a flawless view. Account with a via crusis which can be climbed safely, and also can be reached by the stairs directly.

  • It is the point of attraction greater, after the moving. Begin the tour following the seasons, to the left. It caught my attention the neglect, lack of maintenance of the place. It is sad to see the statues representative stations barred for hooliganism and holding a sign that said that do not have maintenance.

  • It has a good vantage point of the city. If you are into religion then that's a plus.
  • Very nice tour. Although this rather neglected and people who go nor helps to maintain cleanliness. They throw bottles and trash on either side. Something to keep in mind for older persons is to rise accompanied and athletic shoes as much as possible. There are many raised stones and slabs patinozas. When you reach the top the Christ meets a churchyard to flip it and pray you (believers). From there begins the descent by stairs to the base. A very nice scenery!

  • The truth is that the place is very neglected, statues are not of good quality (a few lumps are painted cement) and half broken. It only interesting are all the rosaries hung in the rail of the cross and them plates of thanks. Only if you have no other thing to do.
