Cristo de las Sierras, Tandil

3.9
#5 of 11 in Sightseeing in Tandil
Monument Landmark
The statue of Jesus Christ at Cristo de las Sierras towers over visitors at 15 m (49.2 ft) tall and sits on a hill overlooking the city. The ascent requires a somewhat arduous trek up the hill, but there are benches along the path. Created by artist Fernando "Tirso" Pavolini, the statue stands with its arms outstretched. Take photos with the statue and view the panoramic scenes of the surrounding mountains, city, and lake. The area offers no shade, so bring a hat, parasol, or something else to provide protection from the sun. Where to stay in Tandil

Thanks to Tandil's popularity as a weekend and holiday destination for domestic and international tourists alike, it features a wide array of accommodation options suitable for just about any budget. Downtown you'll find a number of larger-scale hotels and rental apartments that offer privacy, onsite dining, and fancier accoutrements catering to business travelers and tourists. In order to get out into nature, many visitors opt for "cabanas," traditional Argentine cabins in the surrounding countryside; bear in mind that these are rustic and charming but only practical if you have access to a car. Booking ahead of time in the summer high season is an absolute must in Tandil, as lodgings fill up fast.

  • This ride is located somewhat away from the city, to get there is to go by car. Once there, shown in the top of the Hill a Christ of significant size. Climbing the Hill is somewhat complex, roads prepared but partly very steep and washed by the rains. It is achievable for anyone with a normal physical state. Down, shows a very nice view of the city of Tandil, with a poster prepared specially for a photo zip style.

  • Very emotional to arrive. Need a little maintenance on the trail. Good parking. There is a path for vehicles for the disabled that arrives almost has the Christ

  • It is a place quiet, clean, beautiful, just missing a small building for a drink, go to the bathroom (because there is only chemicals) but very cute

  • The view is panoramic, full. Unique and beautiful. Climb up is tiring but there are warnings at the entrance.

  • Free ride. Short and easy hike to the Christ. It adds nothing important.
