  • A breathtaking place, full of petrified logs but more full of chips that make it seem a huge sawmill until you play chips and are so stone as the small boulders which accompany them. Beautiful, desolate, lonely, huge, brutal.

  • Pass by Sarmiento and not to visit the forest is unforgivable, enter in these arid lands is plunging into the past, as far as possible ask the accompaniment of a guide so the ride is made more interesting.

  • If by some place it is worth 500 kilometers, it is this. It is one of two most notable South America petrified forests. Apart from admiring the monkey-puzzle trees and palms petrified remains of life forms's makes million years, learn how to read the landscape that tells its story through the printed colors in its rocks, is a unique and unrepeatable experience. A self-guided 1.5 km circuit, an interpretation with a small exhibition centre there is a video that should see before the tour. The distance from Sarmiento is 28 km (8 of them are paved and 20 are passable but coarse gravel). Recommendation: take your bottle of water for the Trek; women with long hair: tie it because the wind, usually 80-90 km per hour, will prevent you vision. Unfortunately currently only is can go the circuit short, to the say of the Ranger, by lack of staff for the maintenance of the circuit more long.
