Iglesia San Francisco, Santa Fe

4.6
#1 of 14 in Historic Sites in Province of Santa Fe
Admire the early colonial church and attached museum at Iglesia San Francisco. Dating back to the 17th century, the church displays a humble facade, with whitewashed walls and an attractive bell tower to one side of the main entrance. Step inside and look up to see the intricately woven roof, made without nails by the indigenous population. The attached museum displays artifacts from around the town, with a good collection of colonial weaponry, clothing, and handicrafts. Traverse it is excited about what its walls, its furniture and its garden have, several centuries of history keep their galleries, the Church is an architectural jewel performed predominantly by Aboriginal workforce. Many times I've played music on their ship that has wonderful acoustics.

Of the best and most beautiful attractions that has this modern and traditional city of Santa Fe. Colonial heritage, Jesuit building with indigenous labor... both its architecture, its Museum collection and its surroundings is one of the required sites to visit. This located in the historical and foundational part of the city and there the ride of the three cultures is, in tribute to the indigenous, black, and Spaniards who lived for several centuries.

The Church of San Francisco is a religious, cultural icon, a heritage! Its Museum, its walls, its structure, work on wood. Always seems to have been forgotten by those who have an obligation to keep it standing. Every day, thousands of faithful attend his masses!

Where to stay in Santa Fe

The vast majority of accommodations in Santa Fe concentrate in the south of the city, close to Rio Santa Fe. Here, choose from a selection of long-established hotels, some with onsite swimming pools, casinos, and spas. Move away from the main drags in the southerly corner for a good set of more budget-friendly options, including simple backpacker hostels and basic hotels. If you're planning on staying a while, consider a rental apartment, with plenty of options dotted throughout the commercial and residential districts.
