Museo Paleontologico, San Pedro

4.3
#2 of 6 in Childrens Museums in Central Argentina
Walk stride-in-stride with prehistoric creatures at Museo Paleontologico. The museum's permanent exhibits boast a collection of more than 20 species of mammal fossils. Housed in a restored 19t- century mansion in the heart of a historic town, the museum was opened in 2003 by a group of amateur paleontologists. The first and most well-known piece of the collection is the fossil of a giant armadillo that had inhabited the area for thousands of years. After studying the various fossils and skeletons, try your hand at paleontology with a simulated excavation. The Museum is small but what one sees, growing slowly to make new discoveries. It is a short visit, but is worth doing it.

We were in San Pedro for two days and had the opportunity to visit the Museum. It is a small place but is very well presented and themed rooms. You can see remains of dinosaurs and other animals; the particular is that all were found in excavations carried out in the area. It's a walk soon the cost is $40 per person.

I am sanpedrino, and I've gone more than 10 times to the paleontological museum since love my daughters. It is incredible that with so little resources responsible people have achieved a Museum of such magnitude, so much cognitive as didactic. Arranged in a century-old mansion, the physical place consists of several interconnected rooms each other where you can see fossils of all kinds, most found in San Pedro and zone of influence. Each of the fossils has a very comprehensive description for a better understanding. The prices are very affordable, and the natives of San Pedro not paid entry. In short, an obliged place to go and visit.
