El Chasqui, San Miguel de Tucuman

(3.4/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
Pay a visit to the statue of El Chasqui, which celebrates an essential part of Incan history. The chasquis were a team of highly trained, agile, and speedy messengers tasked with delivering important messages and orders throughout the Inca empire. Sometimes running unbelievable distances of 240 km (149 mi), the chasquis had a set of rules and equipment to maximize efficiency. Pay special attention to this statue's representation of the quipu (a kind of pouch where they carried written information based on a set of codes), and pututua (a kind of trumpet to sound clarion calls). • A walk recommended. It is a monument in homage to the Indian and there's this place some points of sale of souvenirs of the region. The landscape is beautiful.

  • It is an old monument on the return that some businesses with so-called crafts have been installed. It is stop forced road to Tafi, just take a walk around the place and take some pictures, nothing more. Of course it is part of the beautiful road that leads up to Tafi.

  • The landscape and the path is something beautiful, through the jungle of Tucumán. But not worth a stop to see the monument or to take pictures.
