Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Merced, San Miguel de Tucuman
(4.6/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Admire the many architectural and artistic details at Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Merced, one of the most important buildings in the city. Dedicated to the city's patron saint, the neoclassical basilica was designed by French architect Pedro Delgare Etcheverry in 1865. Its facade consists of an attractive portico flanked by two bell towers, the east of which houses a clock imported from London in the 1840s. Head inside to examine the work of another Frenchman, painter Felix Revol. Other highlights include an antique piano imported from France in the 1800s, as well as a wooden cross that dates back to the very foundations of the city in 1565. • Ancient and conserved Tucuman Catholic Cathedral. To the enter you find with imposing Temple full of silence to pray and find that time of peace and cable to earth that we need. It has a small "Chapel" for adoration to the Blessed Sacrament... The altar is very beautiful and very beautiful paintings on ceilings... No doubt bound to visit and enjoy oneself somewhere! (if you're Catholic)

  • The Church of our Lady of la merced, patron saint of the Vintners, stored within its walls the sword of command that the Gral Manuel Belgrano delivered to the Virgin in gratitude for the good results of the battles before the Spanish Royal.

  • Church emblematic of the province. It has to safeguard control baton to Gral. Manuel Belgrano handed over to Virgin after the battle of Tucumán. Simple and austere architectural features, it is a very well-preserved Basilica, the main ship is not very extensive but cozy. Upon entering there is a sense of return in time, to contemplate the frescoes in the zenith. In short, a beautiful place full of history and warmth.
