4.8/5 based on 2,600+ reviews on the web
Route of the Seven Lakes connects some of the region's most important bodies of water by road. The 107 km (66.5 mi) route, which connects San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura, winds through Andean scenery of mountains, forests, and waterways, passing through two different national parks along the way. Drive along the road to enjoy sweeping views over the lakes, many carved out by glaciers millions of years ago. Be sure to bring your camera, as you'll find plenty of viewpoints and stops offering panoramic shots of the surrounding area. Though the Nahuel Hapi and Escondido lakes are perhaps the best known, plenty of other smaller lakes also line the route. • A pleasure to drive this route... We rented a car at Hertz (Gral. Villegas and Rivadavia) and we did this route and met Villa La Angostura, preferably done in a sunny and cloudless day. The section is in good condition and offers stunning views. Yesterday we went to Bariloche, it rained when we were and when we got back. To turn on a section 40 km to SMA it snowed, very cute.

  • Surely there is other times of the year where you can appreciate better the landscape. But in the spring it is absolutely beautiful. Recommended. Beware the path!
