Route of the Seven Lakes, San Martin de los Andes

(4.7/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
Route of the Seven Lakes connects some of the region's most important bodies of water by road. The 107 km (66.5 mi) route, which connects San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura, winds through Andean scenery of mountains, forests, and waterways, passing through two different national parks along the way. Drive along the road to enjoy sweeping views over the lakes, many carved out by glaciers millions of years ago. Be sure to bring your camera, as you'll find plenty of viewpoints and stops offering panoramic shots of the surrounding area. Though the Nahuel Hapi and Escondido lakes are perhaps the best known, plenty of other smaller lakes also line the route. • 7 fantastic lakes, do not leave the Patagonia without visiting them! Look for the sign to get out of the road towards the Espejo Chico lake, close to Villa La Angostura; you'll have to follow a road o...  more »
  • Hello!! We hired this excursion with Zig Zag Travel, which is all day, getting up at the hotel at 8 in the morning! We had beautiful sunny day and a group of 12 people in the combi friendly re. The same driver to guide, with a full knowledge of the vegetation, fauna, and geographic amazing! There were stops in Villa La Angostura and also in seven lakes. At the end of the road (Route 40 perfect paved) arrived at the Pearl of the South on Lake Lácar: San Martín de los Andes! Beautiful, a pleasure! We had lunch there back to Bariloche to 7 o'clock. Tired but happy!

  • During our days in Bariloche, we drove the 7 Lakes route in one day to San Martín de los Andes. As the name implies, the numerous lakes about 220 kilometers long route passes, each has its own charm. Since bright sunshine prevailed on the day, nature was simply wonderful and worth a visit. On the way back after Bariloche, we took the Eastern route of the Paso Córdoba, a winding dirt road through the mountains, which was a great contrast to the way.
