Be sure to pack your camera as you head to Mirador Arrayanes, an excellent vantage point looking out over San Martin de los Andes. The lookout point sits above one of Patagonia’s most picturesque cities, with views of the crystal clear Lake Lacar, framed by rolling green hills, all contrasted with the modern, Latin-flavored, urban architecture of the city. Grab a tea cake from one of the concession stands near the viewpoint to add to your experience. • We will leave SMA drizzling from Rincón de los Andes. We surround the Lacar Lake and from there everything was uphill, so we decided to make walking. An exceptional walk is where you do some hiking with great views of the city that grew and spread, and is very nice to see the grids of streets until the wonderful geography of lakes and mountains. We got to the viewpoints and took excellent photos and is very nice and the facilities well-kept to appreciate the lakes and all the mountain landscape. Hence we continue climbing until the House of tea Arrayan which is precious and they told us an alternative pathway for the return. On the route near the viewpoints there is a blue sign and hence low a trail for trekking and Mountain bike really difficult. We loved it and we would do it. Fabulous. The entire route took us 5 hours approximately. Claudia greetings

  • San Martin de los Andes is one of the most picturesque cities of Argentine Patagonia. The surrounding hills and the Lake offer some amazing viewpoints to admire the natural surroundings and the urban architecture of this beautiful village. One of the most emblematic and much visited is the Mirador Arrayán, which offers one of the best postcards of Lake Lácar and San Martin de los Andes. The path can be done from the beach, walking, by bike or by car/taxi. The road is very steep, unpaved and surrounded by cypress trees. After a short time of bubbling Lake will begin to appear between the trees. The Observatory is a modern, well signposted and accessible, even for those with mobility problems. The panoramic view is simply stunning, set between the reflecting pool, the pier, the ships and the town down there, contrasts with the mount Bandurrias and your forest in front of us.

  • This difficult Middle route to reach there but once you get the view is beautiful. No doubt it is highly recommended to take pictures and see all San Martin from the top.

  • Great panoramic views of the lake and San Martin de Los Andes. Easy accesible by car, approx 4km from the exit of the town. Don't miss the sign on the right in a big left turn. Hint : after the Mirador continue 500m to find la "Casa de te"! Check it out on g maps.
  • Walk quiet we went and came on foot from San Martín de los Andes. Throughout the first part goes for asphalt road and then I gravel. It is not gene difficulty. All the way is full of flowers and trees in all its glory. Once above the view is spectacular. Ideal for the typical picture of all the Lake and village seen from above. L tea contained marked House was closed. I recommend to bring water and some snacks since there is no trade throughout the tour.

  • Nice view of the city. Viewpoint maintenance is missing. The access road is wrong. I recommend walking to not break the auto

Where to stay in San Martin de los Andes

Only a small portion of San Martin de los Andes actually touches Lake Lacar, but it's there that most of the best accommodations can be found. Cozy ski chalets and lodges make up the majority of places to stay here, although a few budget hostels offer something for travelers with limited means. During peak times, the town center can get quite noisy at night. Stay a few minutes out of town for a quieter experience with memorable views.
