Be sure to pack your camera as you head to Mirador Arrayanes, an excellent vantage point looking out over San Martin de los Andes. The lookout point sits above one of Patagonia’s most picturesque cities, with views of the crystal clear Lake Lacar, framed by rolling green hills, all contrasted with the modern, Latin-flavored, urban architecture of the city. Grab a tea cake from one of the concession stands near the viewpoint to add to your experience. Plan your visit to Mirador Arrayanes and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our San Martin de los Andes holiday planner.

Where to stay in San Martin de los Andes

Only a small portion of San Martin de los Andes actually touches Lake Lacar, but it's there that most of the best accommodations can be found. Cozy ski chalets and lodges make up the majority of places to stay here, although a few budget hostels offer something for travelers with limited means. During peak times, the town center can get quite noisy at night. Stay a few minutes out of town for a quieter experience with memorable views.

  • The road is uphill, is the same one that takes you from SMA to mount Chapelco. Most is asphalt, but then comes the area of gravel which is very ugly. We did it in a rental car, a Toyota Etios, had been a car lower, type a Civic, had not reached... It is not a road suitable for low vehicles... Ideally, No truck has guard rail my much less shoulder, and a single vehicle passes through certain sectors... As well and all the view is amazing don't miss the opportunity to know him

  • Descending from the ski resort of cerro Chapelco along dirt roads passing through the midst of beech woods we arrive at mirador. Nice views of the deep blue of Lake Lacar and the appearance of the first houses of St. Martin de los Andes.

  • Great panoramic views of the lake and San Martin de Los Andes. Easy accesible by car, approx 4km from the exit of the town. Don't miss the sign on the right in a big left turn. Hint : after the Mirador continue 500m to find la "Casa de te"! Check it out on g maps.

  • Nice walk with good views of San Martín de los Andes, Lacar Lake. The road is narrow, Earth and gravel, and may be in poor condition. It is worth go it, with caution and consideration for the rest of the transit.
