  • It is a small place, near the Center, with ruins of an ancient village in the Valley. It is a fairly new place which was a victim of vandalism. The guide is very good.

  • The site archaeological village lost in the Gorge, is located in the area known as Quebrada del Tala, along the namesake River. The lost people of the Creek represents a great testimony of what was the culture of "La Aguada" in its initial phase, more than 1,500 years ago, a society based on economy agricola, which through the construction of retaining walls prevented the erosion of the land and through dams, canals and irrigation ditches, performed the water management. The natural environment of the site is highlighted by the presence of large cacti, which in some cases, reach the 10 meters of height and several centuries old. At the base, and before ascending the plateau people lost an interesting interpretation centre is located: the prelude to raise awareness and understanding of what was left of the civilization Aguada.

  • Very cute place! But the sad thing is that they assaulted them recently and stole them all! Equally beautiful place! The ruins are very beautiful and well-kept!

Where to stay in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca

Most accommodations cluster in the streets surrounding the Republica thoroughfare, with colonial-era buildings on the main boulevards housing some of the most luxurious options, and a scattering of more informal hotels and guesthouses flanking the neighborhood's side streets. Look farther south for a selection of more budget-friendly places to sleep, with hostels and guesthouses fitting in with the look of the primarily residential streets.
