Laguna del Diamante is a lake located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, in the San Carlos Department, some 198 km from Mendoza. It covers a surface area of about 14.1 km² and is one of the largest freshwater resources in the Province. Nearby is Maipo volcano. The volcano and its reflection in the lake forms diamond-shape image, which gives the lake its name. It is known for its stunning beauty. However, few get the chance to see it because it is passable only in February and only via an off-road vehicle. The lake was described by Antoine de Saint Exupéry in his book Wind, Sand and Stars as quoted, "...he caught sight of a dark horizontal blot which he recognized as a lake Laguna Diamante".

  • I was on Sunday, February 19... UN.Largo road from Mendoza City bordering the NC mountains views... Until you reach the beautiful lagoon of the diamond. Not to be missed for those who love nature and the mountains. You can only be accessed from January up to the first days of March, so I was told at the company that I took el.tours q it is the only q is done. Huentata.

  • a mirror of water nestled between hills to 3300 meters of height that reflects the beauty of the volcano Maipo, where is can see and photograph herds of guanacos accustomed to live with the man and birds that are could say pose for the photo. The reserve is very well maintained. The neatness of nature can be seen. The road from Route 40 to the lagoon is in conditions acceptable. In case of go in auto, is must have the caution of that is a road stony. Recommendation: not miss it

  • To learn through the blog of Rangers that the path was enabled for all types of vehicles, traveled in a Chevrolet Corsa; the road with many saws in certain parts, and need of go almost to step of men in the greater part going in a vehicle as the our, but arrived without any problem to the lagoon; already on the road to sorprendés and wonders with herds of guanacos is handled so naturally in a landscape so rugged; climbing them snails until it part more high, go to down and seems a postal, until is goes to hovering imposing the volcano Maipo and arrive to the lagoon. No doubt a magical place, a unique and virtually unspoiled natural environment that must be known sometime in life. A great experience!
