Museo del Lago Gutierrez, San Carlos de Bariloche

4.5
#1 of 7 in Museums in Province of Rio Negro
In most circumstances travelers avoid small, cramped rooms filled with bones, but at Museo del Lago Gutierrez that's exactly what visitors come for. Built thanks to the passion of Professor Rodolfo Pedro Corsolini, the private archeological museum houses a collection of around 10,000 fossils, rocks, and bones discovered in Patagonia. Have a chat with Professor Corsolini, who can usually be found on site, about the fascinating discoveries and what they tell us about the region. • A surprisingly large collection of rocks and fossils crammed into a Tardis like museum. If you're a geology or palaeontology geek then you'll love this, particular the dinosaur eggs. also you can look...  more »
  • To visit Villa Los Coihues have to go Yes or Yes for this Museum, which honors geology and Paleontology studied by people with much dedication as Prof. Rodolfo Corsolini and his son Julian. Remarkable kindness, as well as the amount of parts available in the place (stones, pictures, stuffed animals) to observe carefully and take in the retina and memory. Photos can be removed. Entry adults $70 per person, which is at least for everything that one can see there. It is worth much.

  • Awesome place, Rodolfo is a great source of wisdom and knowledge. Afable and pleasant to talk to about history and also contemporary matters. Fully recommended for people interested in Earth's history, geology and the likes.
  • Said it was open... abierto todo los dias... all the days. But they were not open and had no note as to when they would open. Dissapointing.
  • Small museum full of passion.
  • I was a rainy day. They pay up to minors, $70. It is not a Museum of the place but a collection of stones in the world. I do not come back.

  • Amazing Museum! Very, very full (both in its paleontological branch on its geological). Attention, hospitality and good mood of its people is remarkable. We made them a thousand questions and all were answered with great enthusiasm. Highly recommended!
