Train to the Clouds (El Tren a las Nubes), Salta
(3.8/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
True to its name, Train to the Clouds (El Tren a las Nubes) will literary take you over the clouds, which touch the base of a dramatic viaduct hovering across a desert canyon. Argentina's most famous rail trip starts at Salta and continues through a valley and up mountains slopes, over turbulent rivers, and past the ruins of a pre-Incan settlement. The journey only stops in a dusty mining town and over a canyon 4,220 m (13,845 ft) above sea level. Ride through spiral tunnels and over bridges while listening to piped music and enjoying the scenic landscape and the railroad's engineering wonders. The service includes snacks and medical assistance, as well as vendors selling empanadas and coca leaves to help with altitude sickness. • Day excursion which is worth sbsolut. Some people suffer altitude sickness, so paramedics and an ambulance ride. Bilingual tour guide. Breakfast and afternoon snack included (but not worth talking about). Take the sure extra water and food. The ride begins after 4 hours bus ride through one of the most fascinating landscapes of on Earth. Recommended! However hymns are played on the train while crossing the bridge. Bit much show! Still top!

  • Unfortunately during my stay in Salta the train was out of service, but you can enjoy the routes that run parallel to the way much of the way and make the trip in vehicle recommended 4 x 4 traction, but I could see normal cars, road is gravel in some sections but with good weather has greater difficulty in driving. It is advisable to take good coat when it comes to lowering the car to contemplate landscapes and pictures. Trip not to be missed!
