Specialty Museum Museum
Salta Cabildo dates back to the 1600s and was officially named a national historic landmark in 1937. Today this site houses the North Historical Museum and Colonial Museum of Fine Arts, which provide a history of the region (although exhibits are not translated into English). Originally built in 1626, this colonial building would be rebuilt and restored several times--first by Captain Diego Velez de Alcocer in 1676 and then by Colonel of Militias and camp master Don Antonio de Figueroa and Mendoza in 1780. This building served as government headquarters until 1880, and was later restored by architect Mario Buschiazzo. • Old building which is currently in redevelopment, simple, didn't see it well maintained or in architecture or maintenance. Little cleaning in their income. There is a small museum in the same to visit.

  • Nice museum. Unfortunately the information. Is only in Spanish, however there are some interesting artefacts and the courtyard and building itself make it worth the visit. It's free too, so you can't go wrong.
  • Laid back, interesting and quick. Cheap too
  • Great historical place, full of interesting details and valuable objects from the independence war. Some explanations should be expanded.
  • 🤗😀
  • Excellent place that has the Saltena history with well preserved objects. It has beautiful courtyards. Affordable entry. It has bathrooms and guides if necessary.

The majority are concentrated around the city's grid-like center, surrounding Plaza 9 de Julio. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, go southeast and explore the area around Parque San Martin. You can opt for anything from a healthy range of budget accommodations, including hostels and small guesthouses, all the way to luxury hotels.
