  • Our seven-day tour with Poncho Tours was fantastic and truly memorable. Our trip from Salta included visits to salt flats, historic sites, some quirky churches, and to local towns, restaurants and crafts people. The ‘painter’s palette’ of colours in the mountains of the Quebrada de Humahuaca was amazing. After a day of acclimatisation (15km and ascending to 3400m) we travelled to Iruya and embarked the 2 day expedition with our local guide, Danny, to his parents’ farm up in the mountains. Despite the challenge for two retirees of trekking up to 3,500 metres, the experience of peace and tranquillity in the mountains, with condors occasionally circling overhead, will never be forgotten.
  • Excellent service. Professional and very knowledgeable of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day trip to Valles Calchaquies with Nick. Amazing!
  • Wonderful trip through the Puna. Thank you Nick ! My husband and I made a beautiful 5 weeks trip to Argentina last November. But the highlight was definitively our "Southern Altiplano tour" (Puna – North Argentina). This extraordinary trip would not have been possible without the expertise, professionalism and passion of our guide Nick. Nick, not only a perfect guide with the best knowledge of history and culture, but also a pleasant travel companion and friend. He took us to the most beautiful spots, breath-taking views, stopped everywhere we wanted for the ultimate best picture or just stand outside on some ridge and enjoy the mind-blowing terrain. And all of this in a very relax, pleasant atmosphere. He was excellent company, knowledgeable on all subjects, knew the ropes, spoke Spanish and was very caring. We can’t speak highly enough of the way he looked after us. Travelling with him is like having a friend showing you around his own neighbourhood - no pressure, always cordial, relaxed, informative and thoroughly enjoyable. Despite the fact that he has already made this trip several times, Nick remains as enthusiastic about it and enjoyed it with us. When he finally dropped us off in our hotel in Salta, we were tired but happy to have met Nick and grateful to him for enriching the North West leg of our Argentinian holiday in so many ways. If you are looking for someone who is kind, gracious, professional, multi-talented, fluent and an all-around GREAT person, Nick is the person to contact. Especially if you are looking for a tailor made adventure. Thank you so much Nick for this amazing experience ! We were so lucky to be part of it. Definitively a 6 stars experience ! Anne & Chris
  • We spent three days in the Salta area and wish it could have been more. Luckily for us, we engaged Nick and Alicia Evans of Poncho Tours to guide us. Nick took us up into the Andes to see the beautiful, colored mountains - spectacular!!! - and tell us about the history and culture of northwest Argentina. When an unexpected health issue developed, Nick quickly and graciously changed our plans to accommodate. Later, we spent a day with Nick's most charming wife, Alicia, who showed us around Salta and environs. Although the tours were great and very informative, we particularly enjoyed talking with Nick and Alicia - they are warm and welcoming and gave us a more personal glimpse of their lovely area. We couldn't recommend them more highly.
  • Like many others we came across Poncho Tours via Google and got in touch due to the exceptional reviews. We are SO glad we did as we had been really struggling to narrow down what to see in the region when there was just so much. Nick was brilliant from the off. Patient with our questions, generous with his knowledge even when we weren't certain we would be booking, and just hugely helpful in helping us to focus on our priorities and create an itinerary which spoke to them. That is the best thing about the Poncho way of doing things - the flexibility of creating your own itinerary, and a driver/guide with the local knowledge to make the most of every minute - even when a museum or road is closed unexpectedly. Having a driver also meant we could both relax and enjoy the scenery without worrying about maps or hairpin bends. Their local knowledge was great and when we wanted to go horse riding they knew just the place to do it - while we would have agonised over guidebooks and wondered about safety etc, . It was really important to us to spend time hiking and the 3 day Vallecito hike was amazing. Physically and at times a little bit culturally challenging for our Westernised teenagers, it was a hugely exciting and enriching experience which they haven't stopped talking about. The scenery was as good if not better than that in the Quebrada de Humahuaca; the families we stayed with were delightful, charming, generous and so hospitable. Their very simple farms were like stepping back in time - subsistence, adobe, mud floors, - no mobile, no internet, making empanadas round the kitchen table in the evening. My daughter even admitted " I am quite liking not having any internet" - and the stars ... just WOW. Thank you Nick and Ged so much for showing us Salta and Jujuy - we loved it and hope to come back and finish what we started!
