Nuestra Senora de la Merced, Salta
(4.5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Discover Salta's historic and religious background with a visit to Nuestra Senora de la Merced, a Catholic church built in the early 20th century, dedicated primarily to Our Lady of Mercy, a subject of Christian art. Brought over from Europe in the early 17th century, a replica statue of the Virgin of Mercy resided within the original church, and now sits in the current structure. Head inside and pay special attention to the Battle of Salta cross, a wooden cross dedicated to the lives lost in the fight to gain independence.
