Specialty Museum Museum
Come face to face with millennia-old mummies at Museo de Antropologia de Salta. The attractive museum displays the less-than-ideally conserved mummies, as well as a range of artifacts from the indigenous peoples who lived around Salta before colonization. Climb up a steep hill to get to the museum, which also serves as a scientific research institute and regulatory body in the fields of archeology and paleontology. Bring a Spanish speaker along with you, as the museum doesn't offer any information in English. • Interesting museum you can learn a little more about the culture of the aborigines, although this very limited this great Museum closed but spacious rooms. There are some things missing a description or this messy, (in the room for children there is an image that seems to worship the fertility).

  • The Museum was in replacement of materials, but just could make a smaller tour, was very interesting; but most interesting was even talk that we had with the girl who was in that moment in charge, who told us many things and kindly gave us a book.

  • This museum, despite being small, brings together an important collection of archaeological items of extraordinary value. Among them, the Paleolithic tools; vessels; funeral urns; figurines; belonging to local Tastil or Aguada cultures. In a superior room, there are a lot of objects in repair. My only criticism is the lack of information about many parts, which does not allow us to know the origin of them. Anyway, it is worth to visit this site. Free entrance.

Where to stay in Salta

Salta's status as the tourist hub of northwestern Argentina means that a wide array of accommodations has sprung up throughout the city. The majority are concentrated around the city's grid-like center, surrounding Plaza 9 de Julio. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, go southeast and explore the area around Parque San Martin. You can opt for anything from a healthy range of budget accommodations, including hostels and small guesthouses, all the way to luxury hotels.
