Dique Cabra Corral, Salta

4.2
#2 of 11 in Outdoors in Salta
Participate in extreme sports during your trip to Dique Cabra Corral, a reservoir that provides hydroelectric power for a large portion of northern Argentina. While farmers also use this water for irrigation, tourists visit the area for its variety of outdoor sports. Trek through the forests around the reservoir or venture out on the water with a rented boat or kayak. For something even more adrenaline-inducing, arrange for bungee jumping or rappelling experiences in the nearby mountains. • We went with my family in November, we went really high expectations but when you get there a little disillusioned toured of the slope of the dam and did not find any place to stop a while and enjoy the scenery which was wonderful, but There were a few restaurat and one other campsite more oriented fishing. For the most part is surrounded by homes of individuals which makes that it is very difficult to reach the mirror of water. On the other hand, we had intended to eat in the hotel in the area but we notice it neglected and decided to return to our place of origin for lunch there. As landscape is splendid but not prepared for tourism.

  • We visited a few km from Salta, returning from Cafayate del dique cabra Corral, beautiful place, beautiful houses, front of the dam there is a restaurant, not very elegant but worth a visit, its specialty silverside, only because of this I would!, there are catamaran that makes rides on the Lake, and for the daring jumping from the bridge

  • The Cabra Corral dam is a huge water mirror very appreciated by the Salta. He will perform different activities: fishing, do bungee jumping, rafting, sailing catamaran. The truth is to find such "Lake" in the middle of the Northwest, pleasantly surprised.

Where to stay in Salta

Salta's status as the tourist hub of northwestern Argentina means that a wide array of accommodations has sprung up throughout the city. The majority are concentrated around the city's grid-like center, surrounding Plaza 9 de Julio. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, go southeast and explore the area around Parque San Martin. You can opt for anything from a healthy range of budget accommodations, including hostels and small guesthouses, all the way to luxury hotels.
