Dique Cabra Corral, Salta

4.2
#2 of 11 in Outdoors in Salta
Participate in extreme sports during your trip to Dique Cabra Corral, a reservoir that provides hydroelectric power for a large portion of northern Argentina. While farmers also use this water for irrigation, tourists visit the area for its variety of outdoor sports. Trek through the forests around the reservoir or venture out on the water with a rented boat or kayak. For something even more adrenaline-inducing, arrange for bungee jumping or rappelling experiences in the nearby mountains. The Cabra Corral dam is a huge water mirror very appreciated by the Salta. He will perform different activities: fishing, do bungee jumping, rafting, sailing catamaran. The truth is to find such "Lake" in the middle of the Northwest, pleasantly surprised.

the way we were by route 9 and then take the route 47, I really do not recommend it, this poorly-signposted detour and road much gravel and hard, however the views are worth the effort to turn returned by Colonel moulds and route 68 It is not so scenic, but it is all asphalting the reservoir of the dam is very cute and quaint

We went in collective, public transport, later a little over one hour, we got out on the dike, there to do different activities, sports extreme, there is a place to eat that serve you very well, the price is reasonable and very good food. The landscape is divine. Note to return, the groups leaving every 1 hour. If they do some of the activities, take a paddle to change by get wet. tickets for the activities we buy them right there, there are agencies who sell them, but there is no difference.

Where to stay in Salta

Salta's status as the tourist hub of northwestern Argentina means that a wide array of accommodations has sprung up throughout the city. The majority are concentrated around the city's grid-like center, surrounding Plaza 9 de Julio. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, go southeast and explore the area around Parque San Martin. You can opt for anything from a healthy range of budget accommodations, including hostels and small guesthouses, all the way to luxury hotels.
