Cerro San Bernardo, Salta

Categories: Mountains, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web
Hike or take a cable car up to Cerro San Bernardo for sweeping views over town. Rising 285 m (935 ft) above the city, the hill once stood as an island in a prehistoric sea--as evidenced now by a huge number of fossils and geological layers under its surface. A funicular from the city's central square whisks you up to the summit, where the plain and surrounding hills form an expansive landscape. Alternatively, tackle the 1,000-plus steps to the top of the hill. Keep an eye out for city landmarks like churches and stadiums emerging below. • We agreed to the Hill in Van, but people can choose to do it on foot, or the chairlift, or auto. In my case I got as I mentioned before and then got off the chairlift. From the top you can get a nice view of the city of Salta from a hostel. There are public baths very well maintained and also a confectionery where the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired in terms of cleaning. There is also a business with typical products and crafts for sale.

  • A view of the beautiful city! To go for day and for night. Not to be missed. You can climb by car, on foot or by cable car. There are some beautiful waterfalls. The only thing that seems missing safety for young children
