Plataforma Lavarden, Rosario

#11 of 27 in Sightseeing in Rosario
Landmark Tourist Spot
Since its 1927 debut, Plataforma Lavarden has striven to provide a common denominator for cultural events in the city. The elegant and French-inspired palace-like building and theater was originally intended for the Argentine Agriculture Federation. Throughout six floors and two basements, the agricultural museum and offices sought to encourage agricultural education for farmers visiting the city. During the Great Depression however, the federation was unable to pay for its loan and the building was forfeited to the state. Today the theatre operates as a cultural platform and museum with many different shows, exhibits, and installations to see. Put Plataforma Lavarden and other Rosario attractions into our Rosario tour planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Where to stay in Rosario

Crowding around the city center, most accommodations in Rosario sit within a few minutes' walk of the Parana River's west bank. Budget options remain plentiful in the central districts, with an array of hostels catering to Rosario's younger visitors. Boutique hotels offer something for mid-range travelers, while luxury accommodations are relatively rare. If you want something quieter, consider the neighborhood of Del Abasto, south of the city center.

  • The Sala Lavardén is an important theatre in Rosario, formally called Teatro Provincial Manuel José de Lavardén and is part of the culture centre of the same name. It's a refurbished, cultural six-flo...  more »
  • We went to the 5th floor a shows where CIRO FOGLIATTA & the BLUSETTES arose... Excellent show, the entry cost only $80. The ambiance is great: there are chairs with small tables where you can support drinks and you buy for a meal at the buffet which is at the bottom of the room. The sound is very good. The historical building a dream.

  • This site has a sample room and several floors intended for recreation for children of disti tas activities ages, for adults, yoga, theatre tango lessons and others. There is a small bar at the entrance and a beautiful terrace. The side lies the Sala Lavardén of theatre at affordable prices.

  • Very good. All its rooms have good sound. The cultural offer is impeccable and reception does well its job. The main hall is a beautiful classic Theatre room. The large living room is suitable for a relaxed atmosphere where one can go to see the artists while enjoying a few pies or sandwiches and bought wine in the same buffet. Bad thing: when you have to close the room at the end of the show, all relaxed environment falls overboard when security ask to retire, even I've seen who say to the artist who is talking to the public must be close. That could be improved. Even I had no opportunity to visit the cupola.

  • The best cultural proposals of the city! Not just for large but kids also! In addition to the theatre and the incredible programming of the dome in summer. Don't miss it!
