Guiraoga, Puerto Iguazu

4.4
#1 of 10 in Wildlife Areas in Province of Misiones
Wildlife Area Nature / Park
Pay a get-well-soon visit to recovering animals at Guiraoga. The sanctuary, located near the famous Iguazu Falls, nurses a range of wounded animals back to health, then prepares them for re-entry into the wild. You can see the adorable animals in their natural habitat on a guided tour around the sanctuary, which might be available in English, depending on your guide. Keep an eye peeled out for colorful toucans and parrots as you walk through the park. The money from your entrance ticket goes towards supporting the sanctuary's work. Add Guiraoga to your Puerto Iguazu travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Puerto Iguazu tour planner.

  • We went there today with kids. They bring you to a trail with a trailer in the back of a tractor. A guide gives you a tour of part os the rufugee where the animals that cannot be rehabilitated live. W...  more »
  • The guide was very accommodating by giving the tour in both English and Spanish for us. It was interesting to hear about their rescue work for injured animals.  more »
  • Our tour guide was very nice and we feel she loves her job. The exhibition itself, has a lot of birds, some monkeys and some cats. Worth an hour visit.  more »

  • Seeing the falls is beautiful and humbling - but chances are you won't see too many animals because there are so many people. Probably just coatis (trying to take your food - don't feed them, it's bad for their health!) and some birds. So if you want to see wildlife, don't miss Guira Oga! They help rehabilitate wildlife to reintroduce to the wild - so depending on what animals they are caring for at the moment, you can see some beautiful creatures you would probably never see. We saw monkeys, toucans, eagles and falcons, wildcats and more! It was amazing to see and our guide was so friendly and translated everything to English for us.
  • Nice place to watch birds and some monkeys. We had a bad guide that didn't want to explain in English. The rest is beautiful.
  • Great natural animal experience! Kind of like a zoo, but better.
  • An excellent wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre - the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I thoroughly recommend a visit, it's even possible to walk there and back from Puerto Iguazu (trust me, I did it!)
  • Nice way to spend half a day. Lots of interesting birds to see.
