Bosque de Arrayanes, Province of Rio Negro
(4.4/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Walk through a centuries-old forest at Bosque de Arrayanes, where a boardwalk winds between the cinnamon-colored and white-spotted trees. The arrayan trees are strange and almost otherworldly, with towering and twisted trunks and a surprising amount of branches blooming with white flowers and berries. Keep your eyes peeled for animals like pudu, the world's smallest deer species, as well as foxes, eagles, and Patagonian woodpeckers. Plan your visit to Bosque de Arrayanes and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Villa La Angostura vacation route planner.

  • We decided to experience the forest and did the 2 hour hike each way to the tip of the peninsula. They charge a small fee for entry, around $100 pesos for tourists. Once you get to the end there are l...  more »
  • From the port of Villa the Angostura perform the transfer to the forest of Arrayanes, navigating by the Lake Nahuel Huapi in catamaran. You can use the same means to return to the port of Villa La Angostura. It is possible to walk along the paths that are on the Quetrihué Peninsula, whose extension is 12 km to the town of Villa La Angostura back. The catamaran trip was proper insurance, care and service, which we have no objection to. The forest of arrayanes covers an approximate area of 12 hectares. In 1971 it was declared Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, although in the first instance it incorporated it to Nahuel Huapi National Park. It is considered unique in the world, so the visit is certainly recommended to appreciate the uniqueness of this species whose scientific name is "Luma apiculata", permanent foliage and a sexy Tan. It is advisable to resort to the expert guides. In our case, the guide was a member of the endowment of the catamaran that provided the service.
