  • The Park Administration is one of the worst I've ever seen so far in almost 50 days of travel by Argentina and Chile. Even with a site that apparently reports on conditions for access to various points of the Park, there were no disabling of access to the information that I consider to be one of the treasures of the Park, El Escorial, which is a formation caused by a volcanic eruption apparently about 400 years ago. The road was closed without warning. My guess is a bit of laziness, since the road leads to a border, this closed by bad road condition, but the landmark is located right before the border. The worst is knowing that the road is inaccessible (whatever reason) just after running 30 km on a road of rípio.

  • We went with the family by entering the path of Junín de los Andes towards the Lake Huechulafquen, beautiful landscapes and beautiful Lake. Recommended

  • It is for me, one of the most beautiful places of the Argentina. The Lanín is a beautiful mountain, around 4000 meters of height, with one side covered by a glacier. You can scale in the summer months, there are guidelines for that activity. It is surrounded by beautiful lakes, Crystal and green Emerald. There is a circuit to travel around, with gravel road. It is much more beautiful than the 7 Lakes route from San Martín de Los Andes.

Where to stay in San Martin de los Andes

Only a small portion of San Martin de los Andes actually touches Lake Lacar, but it's there that most of the best accommodations can be found. Cozy ski chalets and lodges make up the majority of places to stay here, although a few budget hostels offer something for travelers with limited means. During peak times, the town center can get quite noisy at night. Stay a few minutes out of town for a quieter experience with memorable views.
