Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web
Encompassing a landscape of blue ponds surrounded by salty plains, Laguna Brava shelters vicunas and guanacos, two of the region's endangered species. The reserve covers some 405,000 hectares (1,000,777 acres), ideal for taking 4x4 tours and snapping pictures of the otherworldly environment. Travel through the reserve--which is at an altitude of between 2,500 m and 4,500 m (8,202 ft and 14,764 ft)--is only possible with a guide, so prior booking is essential. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Province of La Rioja holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Laguna Brava and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • It is an all-day excursion. It starts very early, you have to reach Vinchina. It is made with a guide of the area that charges between $200 or $250 per person. We were a caravan of 6 vehicles. Them landscapes that is see are beautiful, as is changing the mountain of colors and forms in every curve of the road. It makes a stop in Jague (last pueblitoen pre mountain range zone) and then reaches 4200 meters. height where this Laguna Brava of salty water and full of flamingos. We saw a refuge of muleteers intact and were within it. The truth is that I do not regret having done this ride but if suffered by the subject's height, malaise, and headache. This tour has everything, nature, fossils, history but is quite tiring. In my opinion, the municipality of Vinchina would have to invest in infrastructure for tourists (especially bathrooms)

  • We went to Laguna brava from villa union. In this city we had consulted a travel agency where told us that it was very difficult to access by car, that it was better to take the excursion in 4 x 4 vehicles. Despite this we continue finding Vinchina (70 km, approx) and met a local cooperative of guides, which told us that the road was in good condition, that it was possible to make the trip with our car. The next day we left another couple more and us, accompanied by a guide, to laguna brava. From this point, it is impossible to convey the experience, for their unmatched beauty. Access to wonderful landscapes, a shocking wealth and is in direct contact with nature. I think it is one of the most beautiful places in our country.
