  • The paving of Route 40 was done in the anos80 and the old section was affected by leaving the town of Epuyén away from it. This was not to be visited but nevertheless expanded enough for its natural beauty. The drawback is that you allowed building on the banks of the Lake and that, unless you camp or be paid, he doesn't see it in its fullness the circumstantial tourists. In the village became a natural park to view it with entry pay and in the surrounding area is worth going to port Patriada or el Desemboque where Epuyén river empties its water in the lago Puelo...

  • Puerto Patriada, entering the town of El Hoyo, presents the other side of the Lake Epuyen, with beautiful beaches and paradisiacal landscapes between the mountains. Its calm waters, invite you to kayak to the newbies. Not to be missed for all ages.

  • It was a beautiful experience, but I have something else that I want to share on this site: not ancient times in this small Valley under a no more than 800 meters above sea level, is one of the many Andean depressions in the region, with the passage of time is flooded as a result of des ice, becoming in know it today as Lake EPUYEN. And could not miss as it happens to almost all Lakes: have a legend, who always have some reality, nowadays this knowledge of this forms and traditions has been lost. Do a brief summary in the year 1922 Buenos Aires (Clemente Onelli) Zoo director receives a letter from such a Martin Sheffield, telling him about the presence in the waters and environment of this Lake of a strange animal that left fingerprints should have a size and weight important, describing it "as a Swan of oversized shapes and movement of water similar to that produced by a crocodile". Consequences of this story Clemente Onelli decides that it is a good time to promote these little-known places of these southern lands, giving a name to this creature from "el laguito EPUYÉN plesiosaur". Body takes the idea of sending an expedition, together the necessary moneys with the support of friends and the press of Buenos Aires and La Nación newspaper, let everything goes in the largest reserve, leaving that general opinion continue to believe that the Inquirer had seen too monstrous in the Lake Epuyen. Obviously isn't anything, but if the legend was born and still fueled by the fantasy of the inhabitants and visitors of the Patagonian Lakes. These lakes of the Andes have luckily its monsters which agitate our fantasies and make us feel proud as the Scots with Lech Ness. Note: * this is a my synthesis of an article for the Patagonian magazine, January 1988
