  • During our 4-week Patagonia tour we had planned a back a total of four days time for the section of the southern glaciers to Bariloche, since the line is very long and at least partially difficult to drive. There are no sights on the 1,500 kilometres, but definitely includes the cave of the hands. After we had stayed the previous day in Gobernador Gregores, was initially about 250 kilometers over the now largely paved RN40 to Bajo Caracoles. Shortly after the village of tiny change on the gravel road RP97 and runs about 50 kilometers up to the cave. The road was in very good condition - at least during our visit in mid-November - and since except us no other cars were on the road, the track had excellent drive. At the entrance there is a Ranger Station and a small visitor centre, where you pay also the entry of 200 ARS. About once an hour there is a guided tour, visitors had to choose between English and Spanish. The young Guide, which took over our Group spoke very good English and made the lead with a vigour and enthusiasm I've rarely seen. Equipped with helmet against stone impact is it initially via a footbridge and learns a lot about the history of the area while. Then you will reach the handprints: If you didn't know better, you would certainly guess that these come from nowadays and are not already several thousand years old. Absolutely incredible, the color is as well received. The guide explains so that this lies on the mild, very dry climate, the region's combined with the porous rock. Conclusion: We were totally amazed by the tour and would recommend it anyone. Even if the cave is very secluded, definitely worth visiting!

  • My visit to the Cave of the hands was one highlight of my time in Argentina. I stopped over only one day in Perito Moreno, and booked a tour with Zoyen Tourismo. My drive through this dry, spectacular...  more »
  • The Valley of the Pinturas River with its walls worked by erosion forms a magnificent landscape that has the extraordinary presence of some sectors "painted" by the people who inhabited the place thousands of years ago. It's a beautiful walk to make and delve into the culture and geography of the place. The visit is only guided by specialized personnel and worthwhile. It is inexcusable to walk through the area and not to visit it. Comment apart for access roads. they deserve best maintenance to facilitate the arrival of tourists. You are between 30 and 4 km of gravel depending on which of the accesses will take.
