Trip Planner: South America / Argentina / Cuyo / Province of San Luis / Merlo / Salto del Tabaquillo
Ideal for tourists into hiking and outdoor adventures, the trek to Salto del Tabaquillo requires a serious scramble up a path that follows a river and passes a string of smaller waterfalls. The main falls tumble over a vegetated cliff into a base pool, where you can swim and cool off. Hiring a tour guide is recommended unless you already know the trail. Salto del Tabaquillo Reviews
No es ni más lindo ni más feo que otros sectores de Merlo. Sólo destaco que es una buena manera de subir un poco a la montaña si no te gusta ir por senderos. more »It's neither cuter nor uglier than other sectors of Merlo. I just highlight that it's a good way to climb the mountain a little bit if you don't like to go down trails.

A Little adventure! You have to go to the starting point, which is reached in the same way that goes to the viewpoint of the sun, the AV of the Sun first and then av of the Caesarean, the entrance is on the left hand, you will see the posters. You can do it with a guide, you could hire them in that place, or coordinate before. If you go there the exits are at 12.30 hs. If you coordinate before you can agree on some other timetable. We left at 10 HS, I found it better early by the sun. It can be done without guidance as well, because the way is to follow the stream, against the stream. We thought it was better with a guide because it was the first time we did, you can find places you do not know how to follow and delay, or have some discomfort or small accident, and guides are prepared. We were told it is medium high difficulty tracking, because it is not just hike but one has to climb some rocks, by parts walking against some medium stone to the edge. But they do it until kids so you can! Obvious that no older people or with any difficulty in walking or jumping. There are alternatives: a short one, that go to the first jump and the first Tabaquillo, that takes 2 hours approximately between round trip, perhaps this option is the ideal one to go with children. Another is to reach the last jump, delays 5 hours approximately, can be 4 or 6 Also, all depends on the group and how much you stop in each part. That's what we did. It was really worth it! But inside the group there were guys, who re-benched but were already tired, warm, hungry and so on. There are also Tyrolean or rappelling options there. And the return is usually by another way, by the edge of the mountain. In our case as there were many guys we came back for it. The guide cost us $600 per person. Important!! To wear: comfortable clothes, slippers (if they are of better tracking by the grip), mesh, cap, a backpack with some food and some termito or bottle for the water, they are loading of the stream which is very fresh and very transparent. The scenery you're seeing is amazing! As you go up you are getting more and more surprised!

(compared to the big jet hike or cascade of the Condores Q is tremendous and few arrive) It has a degree of difficulty that for older people and children is not advisable. It will be 2 to 3 hours of walking with a beautiful scenery and some difficulties to overcome. It is obligatory to wear comfortable and ready to wet footwear. The journey is complex is very difficult to do without guidance and pay one is disproportionate so q I suggest follow them as no one can tell you anything. When you see a group with a guide just follow it and ready. The pots and waterfalls are very nice and the reward of getting there is no other than a good dip under the waterfall of cold water that well worth it.
Beautiful, I walked about 1 hour down the river. I fell several times because it requires some difficulty. Wear good footwear. The view of the jump is beautiful and the water is freezing.
Really great, I did it with my 12 and 16 year old kids. While it is not complicated it requires some agility. We did it without a guide because the price seemed crazy. Recommended.
There are trails to walk through the Sierras. Very nice scenery leaves the way to the Tabaquillo's jump! Beautiful Place
Unfortunately I could not get, no one tells you where the trails are to go to the Tabaquillo, if you ask questions are sent by the way of the rocks. They put you in the head that you have to pay a guide yes or Yes, which is charging $600 per person, and do not dare to follow the group without paying as they despise the entire trip. The reservation does not have public restrooms, unless you consume in the restaurant that is almost at the entrance of the place. It's public, they say, but it's a big undercover business. Best regards!
The Trabasia is great for those who like to climb a bit with trainking... Reaching the fall is a unique achievement.. The sound and the view is great.. I have to go back! 😁 🤙
