Laguna de la Nina Encantada, Mendoza

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web
Keep an eye out for natural (and supernatural) activity at Laguna de la Nina Encantada, where extinct volcanic lava rises over the lake's calm blue surface. The lush microclimate here includes abundant flowers and birds nesting in the rock walls' holes. Walk, bike, or drive along the lake to take in the vivid colors and peaceful scenery. Many believe that the sapphire lake is haunted by the ghost of an indigenous princess who drowned in the icy water with her lover many centuries ago. According to legend, the princess Elcha was due to marry a Pehuenche prince, but instead fell for a common man. She and her lover fled their families and, in their haste, tumbled into the freezing pit. On a moonlit night, you might just catch a glimpse of Elcha as she comes out in search of her long-lost love. Laguna de la Nina Encantada is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Las Heras Edition.

  • Magical place, I recommend reading the history that gave name to the lagoon, beautiful scenery where it mixes mountain, a lake with different shades of Turquoise, green, and trout swimming to the shore, with flowers and green plants that surround it, which makes a framework for best photo...

  • Many years ago I visited this place and it is a paradise, in the midst of the Earth. It is reached by a trail which leaves the road going haci Las Leñas.
