Museo Municipal de Arte Juan C.Castagnino, Mar del Plata

(4.4/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Standing out like a fairy-tale mountain castle in the streets of Mar del Plata, Museo Municipal de Arte Juan C.Castagnino impresses as much with its striking towers as with the exhibits it hosts. Completed in 1919 as the private residence of the wealthy Ortíz Basualdo family, the distinctive building now houses a museum displaying more than 450 pieces by local artists. Admire the works of Mar del Plata painter Juan Carlos Castagnino, who has around 180 pieces on display. Sadly, the museum feels somewhat incomplete, as several of its rooms remain empty. • This Villa is now a cultural center of first level in Mar del Plata, where it has based the John C. Castagnino Art Museum. This villa belonged to the Ortiz Basualdo family until it was donated to the municipality of the place. NET style picturesqueness, its interior presents the original furniture of the House, which is shown in permanent t e in the rooms of the first floor. Exhibited in many galleries works of national artists and 138 works from the Mar del Plata Castagnino. Very easy access, is located in the Hill of Av. Colon, is a good place to see if same architecture of the 20-30 of Mar del Plata

  • Almost everything is cute in this place. The neighborhood in which it is located, the Colón Avenue with views down hill Stella Maris, the old Villa Ortiz Basualdo perfectly cared for its picturesqueness style, rooms and period furniture, wood stairs that make noise up and down... The House a museum on the work of Juan Carlos Castagnino, which I didn't like much (in taste there is nothing written...). Input value: $40 per person

  • What was the Villa Ortiz Basualdo, today historical architectural Provincial monument, located in the Loma de Stella Maris is one of the most beautiful in a set of high heritage value as the Tower tank, neighbouring Villa Blaquier, the Villa Normandy, the Torreón del Monje and the Church Stella Maris. It was the first non-public building with elevator. The current Museum contain works by Argentine artists and own Castagnino collection donated by your spouse. A high point of the House is the first floor where all the furniture of oak and other equipment were carried out in Belgium. It is worth to explore it. Unfortunately does not work the elevator so that those who have problems engines refrain.
