Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo, Mar del Plata
Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
A former summer retreat of writer Victoria Ocampo, Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo now hosts art exhibits, plays, and concerts. The wooden house of English design was built for the writer's godmother in 1912 and used to provide the setting for literary salons attended by aristocrats and prominent artists, such as Jorge Luis Borges. Cross the green lawn surrounded by a lush garden to enter the house, and explore rooms filled with antique wooden furniture dating back to the building's early years. The only thing objectionable is the echo that Visual Arts samples are limited to schoolchildren and young people, given the cultural importance of the place, it seems to me that they should be included in addition, exhibitions of artists from the most varied. Anyway, it's a great cultural space.show original
