Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo, Mar del Plata

(4.3/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
A former summer retreat of writer Victoria Ocampo, Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo now hosts art exhibits, plays, and concerts. The wooden house of English design was built for the writer's godmother in 1912 and used to provide the setting for literary salons attended by aristocrats and prominent artists, such as Jorge Luis Borges. Cross the green lawn surrounded by a lush garden to enter the house, and explore rooms filled with antique wooden furniture dating back to the building's early years. • Tremendous place full of stories and history. The maintenance of the place will not keep you in time as it should be. THE worst, the guide service. We had visits guided to them 19:30 hs. It was never made. They not did nothing at that time. We were told that we were two and not, at least, a group of 8, not would be guided. The young high guide or Chief Guide is resisted to admit that was a lack of respect. I say, it is a place not to be missed in Mar del Plata, but do not trust on schedules that publishing and less on the effectiveness and efficiency of the guides.

  • A visit not to be missed, the ideal is to wait for a sunny day to enjoy its Park. Tour the House leads to a glorious past of culture in the Argentina.

  • Beautiful House but lack more maintenance (was about 4 times and it saw worse this summer). Not bothered me pay the entrance but I waited to be better.

  • Interesantes propuestas culturales en un marco único. Histórica casa/museo. Las visitas guiadas son altamente recomendables.
