Historic Site
A former summer retreat of writer Victoria Ocampo, Centro Cultural Villa Victoria Ocampo now hosts art exhibits, plays, and concerts. The wooden house of English design was built for the writer's godmother in 1912 and used to provide the setting for literary salons attended by aristocrats and prominent artists, such as Jorge Luis Borges. Cross the green lawn surrounded by a lush garden to enter the house, and explore rooms filled with antique wooden furniture dating back to the building's early years. • Landmark of the city which, thank God, each day has more support for various cultural events such as live music, photo or samples of paintings, theater and puppetry for kids.

  • Villa Victoria was the House of writer Victoria Ocampo. It is located in the block surrounded by streets Matheu, Arenales, Quintana and Lamadrid. Transferred by boat and Navy completely on an iron structure, the main House has a style of English design. Both Villa Victoria, Villa Ocampo (in San Isidro) were donated in life by her owner to UNESCO. When she died, the international body decided to finish off the summer residence with its furniture to be able to cover the costs of the other (clause stipulated in the donation which provided for the sale of Villa Victoria). At the beginning of 1981, the municipality of General Pueyrredón bought it and since then it operates the Victoria Ocampo Cultural Center. Victoria Villa and its Park are declared assets of "Equity interest" through the 10075 Ordinance and "Architectural historic site" by law Provincial 13499.
