Pozo de las Animas, Malargue

(4/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Find yourself peering into the the deep blue "eyes" of the natural phenomenon of Pozo de las Animas. Twin sinkholes sitting side by side create the illusion of sunken eyes in the earth. Caused by collapsed underground voids, the site is the result of the dissolution of gypsum deposits. A small, light-blue lake of mirrored fresh water gathers at the base of each of the sinkholes, which are both a deep blue-green color from the mineral composition. The sinkholes are located just off the highway, so you can stop to snap a quick photo and take in the surrounding mountain scenery. • A curious attraction and a trigger questions. It is a geological formation takes us to another dimension, it is rare and beautiful. I recommend to visit it with a guide or also applies to request a brochure with details of the training in the Malargüe Department of tourism. To understand the features of the site have to learn! It is a short, either back or going towards Las Leñas, is part of a tour of other interesting.

  • While this marked, there is a veeery brief explanation of how it will fit well of animas, perhaps is why we could not appreciate it well. Not felt to be a must-see to do, only if they pass.

  • Diversion of 100 meters to the left road to las Leñas, easy access, the positive is that they do not charge entry. It is to stop 5 min, observe the crater and follow trip. Nothing extraordinary or essential visit. I me or bothered to take a photograph.
