Antigua Bodega Giol, Maipu

4.2
#6 of 16 in Historic Sites in Province of Mendoza
Historic Site Landmark
Discover the production processes and sample the wares at Antigua Bodega Giol, once recognized as the world’s largest winery. The intriguing bodega has a rich history, with founders Juan Giol and Bautista Gargantini partnering up in 1887 to open the winery’s doors officially in 1898, more than 10 years later. Take a tour to understand the history of the vineyard and hear some interesting tales, such why the logo emblazoned on all wines and all over the factory is that of a bull. Tours culminate, of course, in the customary tasting sessions that experienced wine tourists will be more than familiar with. • Excellent wine cellar Museum to see the ancient production of table wines of the country that came to produce 80 million liters per year. They have old casks that were capacity of 75000 litres and pool is 250 thousand. Charged tour and tasting something that I do not like to pay, but if I do it when I hear that the place is working with a cooperative. The wines tasted don table wines of a quality remote to the current fine wines and many varieties.
