Marvel at the immense, ice blue cliff face of Perito Moreno Glacier, which spills out into Argentino Lake. Every so often the sound of thunder echoes all around as a slab of ice cleaves off and plunges into the water below. Explore the walkways of the national park that faces the 250 sq km (97 sq mi) glacier, providing many different viewpoints and perspectives from which to admire the ice flow, as well as the surrounding, snow-capped mountains. For a closer look, take a boat tour out to where the wall of ice towers over you. The most adventurous travelers can hike on the glacier itself. Most of the park's walkways are wheelchair accessible. • Nature in all its splendor, one sits on the catwalks or runs through them, and time passes without realizing. Impressive and extraordinary place that makes you feel small. I recommend go to the catwalks after 2 pm, when the contingent of tourists are removed and continue along the walkway that goes to the right, along the channel of the icebergs, which ends in a beautiful place to have a coffee or a chocolate with view to the glacier and the tremendous mountains.

  • WHAT A BEAUTY!  An absolute must-see, even for sceptics like me.  I never thought I'd be so awestruck by a glacier but it certainly is one of a kind.  I easily spent hours watching it.  Downsides are: crowded, construction work meant I had to wait for and take a shuttle to reach the toilets!  The restaurant/cafe at the first stop is overpriced (due to the view of course) so I skipped this completely and went to the second and final stop where the wooden walkway began to wind up and down in front of this amazing spectacle!  I booked a half day trip with Chalten Travel including coach ride (excluding entrance fee for national park) traveling there at 1.30pm and returning at 6.30pm (journey takes 1.5hours so expect to arrive back in El Calafate around 8pm).  CalTur and another company offer the same.
  • Once in a lifetime experience. Especially the hike on the glacier was unforgettable, including the cold 'dessert' 😉 in this ice desert !
