Create an itinerary including Laguna de los Tres
Hike to Laguna de los Tres, an emerald lagoon of glacier water on a track that reveals plenty of natural sights along the way. On your way up, you'll gain excellent views of the area's granite peaks, and perhaps even some condors flying overhead (bring your binoculars). The final stretch of the increasingly steep trail will also get you sights of the lagoon itself, with glaciers hanging from the slopes that surround it. • One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve done so far. The trail was nice, mostly flat in the beginning, and stiff on the last 1.5 km. The view at the top was breathtaking, especially during sunrise time! We camped at Pinchenot, started hiking up at 3.30am and arrived on time. The moment when the golden sun light hit Fitz Roy was amazing. We waited couple of days in El Chalten to get good weather, and it’s very worth it.
  • Be sure to bring appropriate food and equipment. It’s a long day and one that rewards you at the end! It’s a long day and we left at dawn - we missed all the tours and large groups of people meaning the lake at the end was just us. Worth it. It’s a hard hike though.
  • That last mile hurts, especially after the snow. Serious hiking so make sure you’re prepared ( food , shoes and clothes). Read the weather before you go. Beautiful place that has to be visited if you’re able.
  • Nice climb and workout. We left early to reach the top before the crowd and was worth it. Most difficult part was that the rocks had a lot of ice sometimes which is slippery. Really rewarding hike!
  • Breathtaking place. If you go there in winter, make sure to wear waterproof shoes. Also, it's convenient to go by taxi to Pilar inn and then return to El Chaltén following the trail of Laguna Capri or Mirador del Fitz Roy. It's 17km and almost 9hs. Make sure to leave by 8am so that you can make the most of the daylight.
