Laguna de los Tres, Los Glaciares National Park

(5/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Hike to Laguna de los Tres, an emerald lagoon of glacier water on a track that reveals plenty of natural sights along the way. On your way up, you'll gain excellent views of the area's granite peaks, and perhaps even some condors flying overhead (bring your binoculars). The final stretch of the increasingly steep trail will also get you sights of the lagoon itself, with glaciers hanging from the slopes that surround it. • Reaching the Laguna de los Tres is an Odyssey since you have to have a good physical condition. Need to bring a good trekking shoes since they are several hours of walking and the ground at times is not firm, it is steep and loose rocks. Fortunately, the path is well signposted. The first section is of medium difficulty and the last hour before arriving is of high difficulty (the worst!), but when one finally arrives, it is compensated for the effort that one made to contemplate the lagoon. The view is simply wonderful. Totally turquoise water color leaves you speechless. Highly recommended! January 2015.

  • If they go to el Chalten is a path that can't miss! (don't forget to scare by the level of demand, we saw people of 75 years going up!). We left from the Hosteria El Pilar, it seems to me that it is the best choice, because thus you go down a path and return directly to the people on the other (not repeated path). Travel to the 3 Lake is about 10km. All the trail is beautiful, the views are breathtaking and wildlife take much photo you can ask. All the trail is a walk, the last km is the only one that will be difficult. The best advice is to find a steady pace up, anxious and rest if necessary, but they will lose the shrimp haha. Once above the view is impressive and makes every step is worth the effort. The turn is made by another path that ends up in the village, is totally different from the path of ida (when they do go to see because), but no less cute. It is important to bring water, a snack and go with time to enjoy the day and arrive on time for the Happy Hour bars in the village!

  • Really nice walk and was probably my favourite of the two main ones in town. It is very easy to get to from town and then the path the whole way along is wide and clear. The first 2 or 3km are slightl...  more »

  • Amazing hike. You really need to deserve the view, the last hour and 15 minutes are all steep uphill, you better be a bit in shape. Don't try it with sneakers, especially not if there is snow and ice left, until October. A stick always helps, even a wooden one young can pick up on the way. Get there and enjoy the view on Fitz Roy and the lower valley with Laguna Capri, Madre y Hija. ¡Espléndido!
  • Incredible lagoon where you can see the fitz roy! Awesome place to be!!
  • One of the best hikes I ever did. Great view! The last kilometer is difficult.
  • Really beautiful place. ..
