Laguna de los Tres, Los Glaciares National Park

Hiking Trail Nature / Park
Hike to Laguna de los Tres, an emerald lagoon of glacier water on a track that reveals plenty of natural sights along the way. On your way up, you'll gain excellent views of the area's granite peaks, and perhaps even some condors flying overhead (bring your binoculars). The final stretch of the increasingly steep trail will also get you sights of the lagoon itself, with glaciers hanging from the slopes that surround it. • It is certainly one of the two Best trekkings that done in my life. The way is hard, but the views are so spectacular that one even realizes the effort is. The last section is the most complicated of the walk, having a rise of 400 m in 1 km. The reward at the end of the journey makes that effort has earned more than it worth. Not to be missed.

  • We did the hike in February this year. Camped out at Poincenot the night before our climb to Laguna de los Tres. The campground was quite crowded when we arrived early afternoon. It got very cold at n...  more »
  • Really great trek. Not too tough and very rewarding. Plenty of stunning spots for an energy snack and if you set off at the right time you could feel you're on the trail alone.  more »

  • What an amazing hike to a mountain lake. Starting at 9am, the hike was 25 km, and took 8 hours with extreme winds and the last 600m involved very difficult hiking. (TIP: bring a wind vest). The landscape along the hike was spectacular, with an amazing view of Cerro Fitz Roy and a glacier. make sure you drink some of the mountain water from the streams, probably the most pristine water you will ever drink in your life.
  • This is a must! One of the best sceneries that I've experienced in my life. Plan to leave early from El Chalten, around 8 or 9am, as it is about a 21 kilometer trek. Camping is available at multiple locations so if you want a shorter days hike, this would be a preferred option. Unfortunately, this is a very popular spot so tent sites will most likely be limited during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Again, you must do this hike!
  • A full day of moderate hiking but oh what a day it is. The views of the town you leave behind are quickly replaced first by views of the river, then the distant hills and finally the view of Fitz Roy. As you continue to climb, this view only gets better. After the final push you are rewarded with a view that is truly second to none. Plan on doing this even if you have to leave your +1 behind.
  • A long day hike but well worth it. The last km is indeed quite hard but the view of Fitzroy up top is worth it. I'd start early to get up there just after sunrise if possible. Took us about 5-6 hours roundtrip but we were booking it.
  • Absolutely beautiful unless it's a cloudy day. The walk there (I wouldn't call it a hike except for the last kilometer) is rather boring.
