Estancia Santa Susana, Los Cardales

Visit a traditional Argentinian ranch at Estancia Santa Susana. Spend a little time among gauchos, the South American cowboys, and explore the many onsite attractions. Roam the rooms of the museum that showcases the colonial-era living arrangements on the estate, and view the complex's church. Try horseback riding or a relaxing carriage drive through the grounds, and have a satisfying barbecue meal with drinks and desserts. While sipping on wine or yerba mate, enjoy a tango and weapon-throwing performance. After the meal you can watch the gauchos' skill exhibitions, including animal herding, ring racing, and typical cuadreras horse racing. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Los Cardales holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Estancia Santa Susana and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The Estancia is located approximately 70 km from Buenos Aires, but is visited by many tourists who want to dive for a few hours in the atmosphere of life of the gauchos of the pampas of argentina. The estate is beautiful and exquisite, owner and staff very friendly and Nice. Within the Estancia you can make short walks on horseback or by carriage (with its souvenir photos, cute) and visit the residence-Museum of the original owners. As for the food, hot empanadas are offered upon arrival and good local wine, and half of the visit being served lunch (barbecued meat mixed, including spicy sausages and black pudding, sides, dessert and wine), all of a good standard. During lunch, there is a little show with tango, music and performances with the bolas, funny and easygoing atmosphere. Finally, performances and ability tests of the gauchos on horseback. All in all, a good experience!

  • Good place for foreigner to feel tango and other argentina culture, the most exciting part for me is to watch the horse racing show, the player are kind and skillful.
  • We began with a scenic drive into the famous Pampas of Argentina, home of the Gauchos. Upon arrival at the Estancia Santa Susana, we were welcomed with typical empanadas, delicious pasty-like mouthfuls of pastry, beef and veg, along with cups of white or red wine. We had a stroll around on the farm, I took a horseback ride, then watched the Gauchos prepare our barbecue, called asado al asador. At noon, we sat down together and feast on a meal of the Gauchos. There were salads, then the gauchos brought round chorizo sausage, blood sausage, slabs of beef, mounds of chicken then a final treat of lamb. The meal finished off with a nice desert and coffee, After lunch, the Gauchos played traditional music and show how they dance in the Pampa. I dragged my wife up to dance and we joined a group of ladies who were dancing too. We had a good time. To conclude the day, the Gauchos mounted up and began their display of horsemanship. Their skills seemed almost unbelievable, but these men do almost literally live in the saddle. The display started with one of the gauchos tying brass rings to strings hanging down from a goalpost -like affair. The gauchos then thundered up at a full gallop and tried to capture one of the rings on a pencil-like device. When they managed to catch a ring, they went up to the crowd and gave the ring to a lady in exchange for a kiss. My wife got both a ring and a kiss. A great day and a lot of tired people going home.
  • A real taste of Argentina of mid-XX century...
  • Love this place a real Gaucho show and Argentinian Asado
  • Excellent experience in field can be as dynamic or as quiet as you want to spend your stay. The best empanadas and tested. Very traditional. the food is tasty, the wine is suitable for the food, as well as the sausage beer is a delicacy the Show presented at the time of the food is very good. The staff makes you feel very comfortable, and all without exception are very kind. I went in rainy season, and the landscape is spectacular, does not go out riding and enjoy a great barbecue and a good show great experience will be back someday!!!!
