Playa Piedras Coloradas, Las Grutas

(4.1/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Wide and shallow stretches of sand alongside jagged Precambrian rock formations set a peaceful and tranquil scene at Playa Piedras Coloradas. While nearby beaches attract a noisy hostel crowd, this beach offers its own beach library where you can borrow a book, sit back, and read with the soothing sound of the waves in the background. The red rocks that dot the beach are more than five million years old, and provide ample opportunity to go hunting for fossils and petrified oysters. The shallow beachfront also attracts sandboarders- rent a board here and try it yourself. Using our international travel planner, Las Grutas attractions like Playa Piedras Coloradas can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Away from the center of the city perhaps one of the few beaches that does not depend on tides in the grottoes, has a library and a good hostel "Pirate harbour" is quiet and invites you to spend the day

  • Although with over the years more and more tourists visit, this place is still a dream, a paradise just 5 km from the caves.

  • Place to rest, nice beaches, away from the downtown area, but without many services, wild but like something that that wave, is ideal
