  • Declared national historical monument and one of the few that endures of the colonial past of La Rioja, the convent of Santo Domingo is one of the most ancient buildings of our country. Although guided and directed by the Spanish, its construction was made by Aboriginal hands. Is located in the central area of the city, adjacent to the Museum of sacred art, and a few steps from the Plaza 25 de Mayo, still a point for religious tourism. Unfortunately when we approached, the Church remained closed, by what only could admire it from the outside, with its carved algarrobo gate, their campaigns, and its stone walls: the only original thing that resisted of foot, after the destruction caused by the earthquake of 1894. Very austere, it seems stopped in time, and is simple but very beautiful architecture!

  • It is one of the oldest buildings in the Argentina. Door carved in carob wood was made by Aboriginal people. The convent of the friars is located next to the Church.
