Iglesia San Ponciano, La Plata

(90 reviews on the web)
Church Tourist Spot
Step inside Iglesia San Ponciano for some quiet reflection inside a grand 19th-century Catholic church. As opposed to the classic Roman basilica style, this structure features an eclectic mix of architecture drawing from a number of influences, predominantly Gothic. In 1997 Pope John Paul II awarded it the title of basilica. Take in the ornate stylings of the carvings and central spire. The main plaza and the local government building lie within a stone's throw, so consider combining your visit with other nearby attractions. • Actually the building is an architectural Marvel! The exterior is impressive! And its interior exudes peace! It is a spiritual pleasure to stay there, bringing thanks to the Lord! Recommend that you take a moment and come enjoy beautiful feelings of calm and at the same time high-energy!

  • The Church was the first cathedral of La Plata. Featuring it is interesting, but unfortunately it is in very poor condition. The interior is painted by hand.

  • I'm Catholic but this Church does not inspire my trust or like going to mass every Sunday... only that I say

  • It is a beautiful church, but it suffers from the soil movements. I lived less than a hundred metres for 10 years and had no problems with their campaigns. It is worth visiting it.
