House of Manuel Mujica Lainez, La Cumbre

#2 of 12 in Things to do in La Cumbre
Take a trip back into Argentina's literary heritage at House of Manuel Mujica Lainez, once the primary residence of famous writer Manuel Mujica Láinez. Built between 1915 and 1920, the house offers a well-preserved example of bold domestic architecture from the time, with its whitewashed walls and many terracotta roofs. Inside, the building houses the writer's furniture, clothes, ornaments, and artworks, positioned in situ across the many rooms. Head to the library to see exhibits on the author's main research subjects and interests. The landscaped gardens--the work of architect and landscaping artist Carlos Thays--include ornamental features, such as fountains and statues, connected by pleasant walking routes. • We had a time until you reach Cordoba Capital and came by car from Capilla del Monte. It occurred to us to happen to know: "The House of Manuel Mujica Láinez". It is a unique experience and I recommend that you do not miss it. The gardens are beautiful, the architecture a dream. There are guided tours in small groups and you can ask whatever you want, which makes it super custom. Photos of the interior may not be removed. CURIOUS fact: The House is as is the great writer lived it, it is a bubble in time. He has lots of pieces of arts since he was a collector, and that there are gifts from his friends (Borges, the Ocampo and lots of amazing artists). I definitely again :) DATA THAT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE FOUNDATION: ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENT SUM MARKET! You can buy his books only in cash we are left with the desire to since we did not have the same :( I made this suggestion as urgent at the reception, especially to spread the material of the artist incorporating deliveries to the rest of the country by mail

  • Architecture and gardens, a historic place, not to be missed. Gardens with forking paths, terraces, flower parterres, a Spanish style, Andalusian-tiled mansion and a vine that continues still fruiting.
