  • If you want to add a new experience to your trip to Patagonia (Argentina), try crossing the Andes! Going from Argentina to Chile (or vice versa) is a great experience in itself. From San Martín de los...  more »
  • I cross from Chile to Argentina and vice versa several times by this step. It always catches my attention the beautiful landscapes that are seen on the route. The only way is about 12 km from Earth (gravel) before the Argentinean Customs (coming from ARG), however, it is not in bad condition. Lower, no problem were crossing all types of vehicles, from 4 x 4 to cars. Cross is fast, just becomes a bit slow in the Chilean Customs, inspection of the SAG, especially if you are with a bus or group of persons, since suitcases must pass by scanner and there is a bottle neck. In none of the Customs I've seen that they sell food, so they should be. Bathrooms are in both. I crossed in February and later 1 hour approx total (both customs).

  • Just a horror! We left 9:30 the morning of San Martin de los Andes towards Pucon. About of 250 km or 3 hours by road. The 2 km of the border, we face a line drive that lasted 5 hours. In the middle of nowhere! The reason: a strike of border agents who were doing everything slowly. After we entered, in 10 minutes we stood up to the Chilean border, more boring. Moral of the história....as 17:30 we were on the road, exhausted and in a bad mood ... but hungry. The final path that was beautiful has been done fast ... a shame! I wish I'd chosen to go around Osorno, etc. ... The only good thing was to see Lanin volcano well close.
