Basilica Nuestra Senora De Itati, Itati

(4.7/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web)
With its huge dome and neoclassical facade, Basilica Nuestra Senora De Itati dominates its surroundings. As you survey the white exterior, pay special attention to the church's crowning glory: the copper statue of the Virgin Mary that stands at its peak: at 88 m (288 ft), it's the highest of its kind in South America. Inside, you can admire Italian architect Pedro Azzano's spacious 20th-century design. As the city's main place of worship, the cathedral also provides a glimpse into local customs. • Them Corrientes you have a sweetheart special to the Virgin of Itatí, town where is located the sanctuary that houses the statue of the mother of Christ. It has nothing worth mentioning from the architectural point of view, this church two blocks away from the shore of the Paraná. What impresses is the affection of the people and the simplicity of their faith. A visit to the beaches of the River will be highly satisfactory, especially if it is hot.

  • Itatí is a small town, where today is located the Basilica. It has a large ship and whose dome has huge stained glass windows with images that allow the entry of light. This Virgin in a rotating showcase that in mass this time looking at the altar, the devotion and the gathering of all hundreds of faithful who congregate to worship it, produces a thrill. Beside the basilica Museum with objects from the history of its creation.

  • Very cute place. When I went there were few people and everything in order. There are several restaurants around and posts to buy trinkets.

  • It is a place visited by many pilgrims. Facilities are not well maintained and dirty, it is a pity. In the vicinity there are many cheap stands to buy crafts and go even though they are practically all the same.
