Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Esquel
Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Tour Parque Nacional Los Alerces, home to the largest Argentine forest of one of the longest-living trees in the world. Snowy mountain peaks create the background for 1,000- to 3,000-year-old alerce trees, as well as a complex system of four large lakes connected with many rivers and creeks completes the scenery. Created in 1937, the park remains virtually intact since much of it is accessible only by foot. Still, local guides offer fishing trips on the lakes, and many picnic and camping spots can be found in the area. The most scenic walk leads over the suspension bridge over Arrayanes river, while the Torrecillas glacier can be seen from a tour boat.
