La Hoya, Esquel

4.3
#2 of 6 in Outdoors in Esquel
A small ski resort with a big history, including the legendary Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, La Hoya sits in a wide circular basin with 24 trails converging into one narrow area. Steps and mountain crossings connect all trails. The dry powder snow covers the mainly treeless slope until October, when you can ski and snowboard with fewer clothes on. The resort also offers an area for ski touring, plus a comprehensive snowpark with three training sectors. Off-piste deep snow attracts freestylers with its steep chutes, wide-open bowls, and vertical cornices. Amenities include ten ski lifts and a restaurant with rich food at reasonable prices. • La Hoya charm us! ideal to go in September, lots of snow, they played us a couple of days of sunshine, low season prices and very few people on the slopes, do not glue in the middle of lifting. There are tracks to learn, and a ski school that has individual, and group classes good tracks for advanced with great views, a snow park and two coffee shops for lunch with affordable prices (the same price as a restraurant in Esquel). la Hoya can move by car, vans or remise. To be 4 people we came out more economical contract a remise to the combi.

  • A great center of skiing, with good tracks. I recommend to go in September as the price of media is lower, there are few people with good snow.

  • There is very quiet tracks to learn to ski and also tracks very fast, entertaining and very good slopes for more advanced skiers. Lifts are very good and cheap, also there are slopes for snowboard very complete. Services are good, there are a couple of coffee shops very complete but half duplex (although it is normal to be so). It is an excellent choice for a month as September since the tracks are virtually empty. Don't go.
