Viedma Glacier, El Chalten

(4.5/5 based on 550 reviews on the web)
Hike on Viedma Glacier, part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Flowing into the western end of Lake Viedma, the glacier ends in a cliff rising 40 m (131 ft) over the lake and creating an impressive natural sight. The coloration of the glacier, which appears to be striped black and white, is the result of debris collecting in the ice as it moves across the land. Book a guided walk on the glacier with one of the operators providing specialized gear for glacier hiking, or view it on a boat tour. • Less imposing than the Perito Moreno glacier is however worth a visit. The boat is walking in the middle of huge icebergs. Only, not to be missed

  • We made a visit to the glacier from Chalten, we hired the boat and walk by the promontory, without walking on the ice. We decided to do so because the trekking was us dearly, and also had some technical difficulties. We had a day of tremendous wind Patagonian., which slightly hampered the hike, which is complicated, on rocks polished by the passage of the glacier. the colors of these rocks, only silence broken by the wind, the rumor of the ruptures of the front of the glacier made this unforgettable experience... even I forgot the face that the trip was for me...

  • It is a navigation in the viedma Lake until you come across the glacier. Cute boat, beautiful view. Optionally you can walk along a rocky part and get closer of the glacier, to be practically on the. The hike on the glacier itself is not by the recoil of the dangerous tornandolo. Worth the walk, if possible (comes out more expensive) recommend doing it.
