  • More than 3 hours at the start of Calafate. But through this desert with these lamas, squonces or even (Yes, coincidence, he crossed the road in front of us) an Armadillo is top. Beware, you won't encounter anything or anyone on the road, so fill up before leaving. A single House on your way, that's good is a kind of family road stop with what to fill the belly unpretentious but in a very picturesque atmosphere

  • Excellent route, (attention to the amount of fuel, only there are stations in El Calafate and El Chalten).

  • The road from El Calafate to El Chalten is fully paved. However, take plenty of time because you can often stop to take nice pictures. Also the wind makes you reduce speed. To do fine with a small city car. At our departure (november 16) it was clear and we had nice view of Fitz Roy. On return after 3 nights, it rained and there was nothing to see! En route you will find no restaurants or gas stations.
