Mirador del Torre, El Chalten

4.7
Hike up to Mirador del Torre, a viewpoint offering priceless vistas of some of the most famous and prominent peaks in the range. A favorite route among those with limited time to explore the area, this trail does present a challenge for inexperienced hikers, but it is well signposted and relatively short. The vista at the end of the route is well worth the effort, with snowcapped peaks, glacial valleys, and pines providing ideal backdrops for dramatic photos. There is a little climb, but in general it's an easy trail with some stones and clay. Is a short trail that can be made (roundtrip) in 2 hours.

As all the paths of El Chalten, beauty leaves you stunned. El Chalten is a place to go with time and decided to walk. So when people go without time, stays in a rather awkward dilemma for example... do the viewpoint of the tower or the capri laguna? The viewpoint of the Tower has a less steep than laguna capri promotion, is could say that it is a little more entertaining. But if there is Sun, this more discovered also. Eye with the Sun and the heat. The view is a reward rather than rewarding and if still there is time (and legs) you can follow up the Lagoon Tower.

In about 45 minutes by road to laguna Torre meets this vantage point that will give you a clear idea whether the Tower that day will want to be seen or not.

Where to stay in El Chalten

Thanks to the city's small size, almost all of the accommodation options in El Chalten are within easy walking distance of anything of note in town. Most "hotels" are in fact cozy alpine-style lodges catering to international visitors, and tend to be on the pricier side due to their upscale amenities. Alternatively, you can stay in one of the many campsites outside town, though weather here can be harsh. During the high season in January and February, you'll need to book at least a month or two in advance as lodging fills up fast. Keep in mind that El Chalten depends heavily on seasonal tourism for its income, and many hotels and lodges, particularly smaller, family-run affairs, close down during the winter off-season. On the flip side, many of those that remain open offer lower winter rates.
