After a change in plans for last time by changes of flights we are left without the tour on the first day and we decided to do this tour in the afternoon. It was of the best surprises of the trip. Location and incredible views and a friendly staff. Eating lamb was delicious. It is a stretch of long truck from calafate but worthwhile.

First the pluses ... Nice location to some 80 km from El Calafate close to lakes and mountains-) dirt road to reach it, friendly, warm and pleasant with a nice fireplace and vintage photos on the walls. With animals in freedom and spaciousness you feel reborn! Room for improvement in my opinion presentation of the activities (riding skill, tosa and gathering of sheep) and the meals offered ... certainly we are in Patagonia and the meat is the host, however, foresee a meal (even simple) for those who don't eat wouldn't hurt!

We went on this day trip from Calafate. The 60 km journey along the unpaved road is a bit bumpy, but once you arrive it's well worth it. Our guide was Eduardo and he was very communicative and informa...  more »

Peaceful and relaxing place, the owner is very kind, good food, clean place. Perfect place to do horse riding (3h) in patagonia with the gauchos. You can also see the traditional sheep shearing.

One of my favorite places in the world. For anybody visiting El Calafate, take 2 extra days to stay at Nibepo Aike. The tranquillity of the place is out of this world and the staff is super friendly. The asado is also really good. Excellent for horse back riding (also for beginners) and walking/hiking.

A stay something remote, but that's worth the trip for a special field day. The landscape is beautiful, especially at sunset. Horseback riding can be done and they have a very nice hostel. There are sample of shearing, and roast lamb. HIGHLY recommended.

Where to stay in El Calafate

El Calafate offers abundant lodgings, from budget-friendly guesthouses to four-star hotels. Top beds sell out well before the peak season (October to April, and especially December to February), so it's a good idea to reserve in advance if you plan to visit during that time. Spontaneous travelers without prior arrangements can look for youth hostels, many of which are located just outside of town. To stay in comfort without burning a hole in your wallet, consider vacationing here during the low season, when most hotels offer deep discounts.
