A very good day trip, absolutely justifying early getting up! Pick up from the hotel to the port where the friendly crew awaits. First, it goes to the Lago Argentino in the Brazo Norte towards glaciers Upsala. Soon, you may consider first floating chunks of ice up close and look at the gigantic glacier. Then it's back to the other arm of the Lake to the Estancia Cristina a piece. Explore the rough terrain 4 x 4 bus and finds out while driving all of the info on the history, flora & fauna! A short hike to the viewpoint on the Upsala leaves nothing to be desired. The landscape speaks for itself! Absolutely worth seeing. Must one not miss in El Calafate!

During a tour in Patagonia, after sailing on Lake Argentino for more than two hours admiring the icebergs of spectacular color, no photo can show the bright shade of azure-blue icebergs!! We arrived at this Estancia, despite the "summer" was a rainy and cold. Upon arrival we had to wait because the Jeep excursion was made to groups and our left for last. Thankfully! Because it rained the whole time I waited. After a trip by Jeep and on foot we could see the Upsala glacier nice. Here, in spite of hat, scarf and glasses I felt the wind coldest ever! the cheekbones, the only that at times was left uncovered, I ached for the very cold. Still, it was nice to be able to see the glacier which admire the views that can be seen while sailing on the Lake.

Estancia Cristina was a once in a lifetime experience, this is a full day excursion with a variety of options available. Plan to leave early in the morning the catamaran leaves around 8:30 AM, you cross a lake while observing icebergs and mountainesque landscapes, go hiking to a majestic glacier and learn about the history of Estancia. I would recommend the 6 mile hike, but there are other excursions available if you don't enjoy hiking. The guides are very pleasant and so knowledgeable. Along the excursion you gain knowledge of the effects of global warming to the Patagonian glaciers, the family history behind Estancia and how passionate the family was about the preservation of land and its wildlife. With great effort, the national park administration are able to keep the family history that is tied to the land alive.

My family and I loved this excursion. The views of the Upsala glacier are stunning, and the whole excursion is very well organized. It's very pricey and the boat trip is a bit long (3 hours to go, 1.5 hours to come back), but it's a great experience nonetheless.

The Instance has no big attractions, Cristina the Museum does not have nothing to arouse the public interest by presenting only items of the family owner of the Instance. Lunch on site is very good, although not be sophisticated, the funcionairos are all very attentive and kind. To Instantiate Cristina worth for your visit the Upsala Glacier, which sits on your property.

Where to stay in El Calafate

El Calafate offers abundant lodgings, from budget-friendly guesthouses to four-star hotels. Top beds sell out well before the peak season (October to April, and especially December to February), so it's a good idea to reserve in advance if you plan to visit during that time. Spontaneous travelers without prior arrangements can look for youth hostels, many of which are located just outside of town. To stay in comfort without burning a hole in your wallet, consider vacationing here during the low season, when most hotels offer deep discounts.
